Summary of the Case: On 27 July we got in contact with two travellers, one of them with an injury on his leg (he assumed his foot was broken) near the Greek-Turkish land border close to Kheros. At 18:00 CEST we alerted Greek authorities, asking for medical assistance and for protection in Greece.

After some hours the people contacted us again. As no help arrived they said they would try to move on. Afterwards we lost contact with them.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
