Summary of the Case:

In morning of the 14th of April we were alerted about 23 people in distress in Turkish waters. According to the relative water was coming in. We could never establish contact to the people. At 10:29 CEST we called the Turkish Coast Guard if they rescued this group of travelers, they didn't. At 11:33 CEST we call the Hellenic Coast Guard to ask for the group, but they say they don't know about their whereabout neither.

In the late afternoon a relative of the people told us the 23 people were caught by the Hellenic Coast Guard, but it remains unclear if they have been brought back to Turkey or to Rhodos. Until now we do not know about the fate of the people.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
