Watch The Med Alarm Phone Investigations – 10th November 2021Case name: 2021_11_10-WM778
Situation: 17 travellers in distress in the Alboran Sea, rescued and brought to Motril.
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean
Summary: On Wednesday the 10th of November 2021 just before midnight, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 17 travellers in distress in the Western Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left the same morning from Temsamane on a white polyester boat, heading towards Motril, and had been at sea for almost 24 hours. We were not able to reach the boat directly, but immediately forwarded all the information we had to the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo. They told us that they had no information about a rescue of a boat matching the description we had provided. However, the following morning at 07.50 CET, Salvamento Maritimo confirmed that they had rescued the travellers and brought them to Motril. This was soon after confirmed by the relative.
