Summary of Case: In the evening of September 28th Alarm Phone was called by a relative who alerted us to a group of 21 people in distress in a rubber boat who had departed Al Hoceima. They provided a telephone number on the boat but we were unable to reach the boat. We forwarded the alert to the Spanish Search and Rescue organisation Salvamento Marítimo (SM) at 21.11 CEST and again at 23.58 CEST. Around midday the following day, the relative who had alerted us to the case informed us they had received knowledge of a rescue vessel of SM which had rescued 21 people and was on it’s way back to Motril, Spain.
