Summary of Case: Right around midnight of September 24th Alarm Phone was called by a relative informing us about a group of ten women and ~41 men in distress who had departed Tantan on the evening of September 23rd. We were unable to establish direct contact to the people at sea and forwarded the distress call to authorities at 00.50 CEST. The Spanish Search and Rescue organisation Salvamento Marítimo (SM) Las Palmas informed us they would launch a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation in the morning of the same day. At 10.00 CEST SM Las Palmas confirmed the rescue from sea of 51 people south of the Canary Islands. At 12.00 CEST an operator of Guardia Civil confirmed the information.
