Summary of Case: In the early evening of September 26th Alarm Phone was called by a relative who alerted us to five men in distress who had departed Annaba in a wooden boat more than 24 hours previously. We were unable to establish direct communication with the travellers and forwarded the distress call to authorities at 18.15 CEST. We were unable to obtain any news throughout the night and following days. In the late afternoon of September 28th the relative who had alerted us to the distress case informed the five men had been intercepted by the Algerian navy and taken to Algeria.

  • Border police patrols
     
    While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
