Summary of Case In the evening of August 12th we were alerted to a group of three travellers in distress in the Alboran Sea. The relative who alerted us to the boat in distress informed us the engine of the jetski has broken and people were urgently asking for support. We informed authorities at 20.17 CEST. We tried to establish contact to the boat but were unable to. At 20.56 CEST the relative contacted us, saying the people were rescued. We did not receive information as to where people were brought after.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
