Summary of the Case: At 09:15h CEST in the morning of Saturday the 3rd of July, we received a call from a boat in distress carrying 67 travellers. The boat had been at sea for over two days and had departed from Tripoli, Libya. At 10:07h we alerted the Italian coastguard via email passing on all the information we had. After this call our shift team lost contact with the boat for several hours. When we re-established contact, at 04:25h early in the morning of the following day, the travellers gave us a new position which we passed on to authorities copying the NGO Search and Rescue boat Ocean Viking (OV) in the email. At 05:33h OV replied that they had visual on the boat in distress. A few hours later OV confirmed that they had completed the rescue.

Border police patrols
