Summary of the Case:

On the 10th of June 2021 at 02:30 CEST the Alarm Phone received a call from a satellite phone. The around 90 travellers (among them 6 women and 2 children) departed from Libya in a wooden boat and were in a distress situation close to Lampedusa. The transferred GPS position were provided to the competent authorities of Italy and Malta as well as the NGOs Sea-Watch and Pilotes Volontaires via email at 03:29 CEST. Shortly after we received another GPS position which we shared with the mentioned actors. At 05:06 CEST we had the last contact to the travellers. Some hours later we learned that the boat arrived on Lampedusa.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
