Summary of Case

On April 6th at 10:24h CET the Alarm Phone was alerted to a white and green polyester plastic boat carrying 11 men that left from Bouyafar on April 5th in the early afternoon. Since we did not manage to establish contact
with the travelers, their friends requested us to alert the authorities. At 11:14h we alerted the Spanish authorities (Salvamento Maritimo Almeria), they later informed us that they are in contact with the travelers and according to them they were not in distress, since their engine was working and they wanted to continue on their own. An hour later, SM informed us that they people were safe and sound and want to continue by themselves to Motril. At 13:23h we were informed by relatives of the travelers that the Spanish police (Guardia Civil) was coming to rescue them. At 15:40h we were informed by relatives of the travelers that they were rescued to Motril by SM.
