Watch The Med Alarm Phone Investigations – 6th of May 2021

Case name: 2021_05_06-WM602

Situation: 6 people started from Al Hoceima and were rescued by Salvamento Marítimo

Status of WTM Investigation: concluded

Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary of the Case:

In the last hours of 6th of May we were alerted to a boat with seven travellers, all men. The provided telephone numbers weren’t reachable. In a phone call the next morning, 7th of May, to Salvamento Marítimo Almeria, we learned that they haven't information about arrivals or rescue operations this morning. When we called the Regional Coordination Center of Guardia Civil in Almería later they told us that there have been many arrivals or rescues but had no more information for us. Throughout the 7th of May we tried to gather information in Spain and Morrocco and to reach the telephone numbers. Luckily on 8th of May in the morning we could reach one of the travellers. He confirmed to have been rescued by Salvamento Marítimo the day before and they are now in Malaga. Boza!
