Summary of the Case:

On the 20th of July we were informed in the early morning about a boat with 50-55 people in distress in Turkish waters. We alerted the Turkish Coastguard, while we established contact to the people on the boat. One and a half hours after our alert, the Turkish Coastguard and the people on the boat confirmed the rescue.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
