Summary of the Case:

On 22nd of January 2021 at 04.41h CET the Alarm Phone received a distress call from a satellite phone. The around 55 persons started from Libya in the evening hours of 21st of January. The GPS position was transferred and soon afters all competent authorities and the NGO Ocean Viking were informed via email. Two hours later the shift team could speak with the travellers again and received another GPS position which was forwarded to the actors. In a conversation at 06.52h the people on board stated to see two boats approaching them and a big red ship in distance. At 10h CET Ocean Viking sent an email to confirm the rescue of the travellers.

Border police patrols
