Summary of the Case:
In the frist hours of 27th of August our shiftteam was alerted to a boat with 12 travellers, among them 4 women and 3 children. The position was between Kalymnos and Leros. At 02:07am CEST we informed the Greek Coastguard and when we called the port authority of Kalymnos at 02:25am CEST they already knew about it. We hold contact to the travellers who sent us a new position at 02:42am CEST and who reported us 40 minutes later that a boat was approaching them. At 04:09am the travellers confirmed their rescue and stated to be brought to Leros island.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
