Summary of the Case: On Thursday the 3rd of May 2018, around 7am, our Alarm Phone shift team was informed by a contact person in Morocco about a boat in distress in the Western Mediterranean Sea, near Cap Spartel. They had left a few hours earlier and were four people in total. We reached out to them but were unable to connect to them. We spoke to the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo at 8.08am. They confirmed that they had just rescued a boat carrying four people, in the area of the boat in question. At 8.13am, the travellers reached out to our contact person and confirmed their rescue to Spain.

Border police patrols
