Summary of the Case: On Tuesday the 16th of October 2018, the Alarm Phone was alerted at 11.55am by a contact person to a boat that had left from Zarzis/Tunisia. We could not reach the people on the boat and decided to inform the Italian and Maltese authorities to the situation at 4pm. In the evening, MRCC Rome confirmed that they were looking into the situation. At 8.55pm, we learned that the people may have been intercepted and returned to Tunisia. The next day, at 1.30pm, our contact person confirmed that the boat had been intercepted and the people were back in Zarzis.
