Summary of the Case: On the 23rd of October the Alarm Phone were alerted to a group of 8 people who had arrived to Samos Island. They tell us their situation is very bad and that some people in the group have already been pushed back from Greece to Turkey many times. We send an email to the Greek authorities and NGOs on the island to alert them to the situation. We later receive confirmation from Medicine Sans Frontiers that they found the 8 people who were exhausted and in emotional distress and provided them with medical assistance and that they are now in the camp.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
