Summary of the Case:
On Sunday, 29th of September 2019 our shift team was alerted to a boat in distress in Turkish territorial waters at 10:30pm CEST. There were 50 people, their engine had stopped working and the waves were high. We tried to get further information from the people but due to connection problems we could not contact them for one hour, so we informed the Turkish Coastguard via phone call and e-mail at 11:33pm, with the information we had. We sent a message to the travelers to let them know thereof. At 00:30am we received a message that the travelers were rescued by the Turkish Coastguard and taken to prison in Turkey. We called the Turkish Coastguard who confirmed the rescue of the boat.
