Summary of the case: On Wednesday the 2nd of October 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 14 travellers, all men, three of them minors, in distress in the Western Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left from Tipaza, Algeria, the morning before on a small plastic boat, heading towards Ibiza. Neither we nor the relative were able to reach the travellers. For many days we were unable to figure out what happened to the boat. Eventually, we learned that the boat had been found between Menorca and Sardegna. Onboard were three survivors. The other 11 people remain missing. All our thoughts and solidarity are with the friends and families of those missing, as well as with the survivors who had to endure this traumatising experience.
