Summary of the Case:

During the morning we were alerted to a group of people from Palestine in distress after arrival on Samos island. We received a GPS location and the information that people need medical assistance. At 09:37, we send their names and the details of their situation in an email to authorities and NGOs. At 10:02 we receive a reply from MSF who confirm they are sending a medical team in reaction to the distress call. At 16:14, MSF confirm via mail they found the group.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
