Situation: 16 people arrived to Samos and were stuck in the forest, Médecins sans frontièrs found them and transferred them to hospital and camp.

Summary of the Case:
In the morning of the 19th of May Alarmphone was alerted about 16 people stuck in the forest on Samos after arriving to the island. We immediately informed the relevant authorities as well as Médecins sans frontièrs, who then sent a team to the location. At 11:28 Médecins sans frontièrs confirmed they found the people and transferred two to a hospital and the others to the camp.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
