Summary of Case In the early afternoon of January 17th Alarm Phone received a distress call by a group of three travelers who had departed from Agadir. They forwarded a GPS position and informed us their boat was drifting. We forwarded the alert to authorities at 13.10 CET. We received an updated GPS position from the people in distress at 14.20 CET and again at 16.44 CET, which we forwarded to authorities. At 16.27 CET the Spanish Search and Rescue organisation Salvamento Marítimo (SM) confirmed the had sent a SAR vessel to find the people. At 19.00 CET SM Las Palmas confirmed the travelers in distress would be brought to Lanzarote once rescued from sea.

Border police patrols
