Situation: 56 people from Morocco, rescued to the Canary Islands

WTM Investigation: Concluded

Place of Incident: Atlantic

Summary of Case: In the afternoon of December 31st Alarm Phone was called by relatives alerting us to a group of 56 travelers, including 2 children and 11 women. They departed from Ben Khlil, Morocco at 03:00CET on December the 31st . We alerted the Spanish Search and Rescue organization Salvamento Marítimo (SM) Las Palmas at 16:00CET who were already aware of the case and were launching a search and rescue operation. In the evening we called SM and they confirmed the rescue of a boat, but were unsure if it matches our case. At the same time we found the same information on the Twitter of Helena Maleno, confirming the rescue of 56 people at 21:35CET. At 22:43 we received a definite confirmation by SM Las Palmas of the rescue. They said that everybody was fine, needing no medial assistance.
