Summary of the Case:On 4 March 2022 close to midnight the Alarm Phone received a call from about 30 travellers in distress in Turkish waters near Datça. When we were able to establish contact with the travellers at 23:43h CET we understood that they were in distress and in panic of sinking. They reported that one woman was unconscious.

At 23:54h CET the shift team alerted Turkish coastguard by phone and by email. At 00:44h CET we managed to get in contact with the travellers again who confirmed that they had been rescued by the Turkish coastguard. The Turkish coastguard confirmed at 6:20h CET on 5 March that they rescued the 27 people and all were alive.

Border police patrols
