Summary of Case: In the early afternoon of November 2nd Alarm Phone was called by a boat carrying ~100 people including women and children in distress in the Maltese SAR zone. The caller related the group had left Lybia three days ago, the boat was leaking and no water or food was left aboard. We alerted authorities at 13.12 CET. Throughout the next hours we forwarded updated GPS positions the people in distress gave us, to authorities. At 20.40 CET the same evening we learnt that the boat had arrived to Lampedusa safely.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
