Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded

Place of Incident: Aegean Sea

Summary of the Case:

In the night of the 24th of July we were informed by relatives that 32 people were in distress on a sailing yacht in the Ionian sea on their way from Turkey to Italy. At 02:03 CEST we informed the Italian Coastguard, even though we couldn't establish contact to the people on the boat. At 23:11 CEST one of the relatives told us that the boat probably got rescued by the Italian Coastguard. As the Italian Coastguard doesn't give us any information nor could we at any time establish contact to the people on the boat, we were not able to clarify the situation further.
