Summary of the Case:
In the evening of November 2nd 2020 the Alarm Phone got informed about a boat in distress by a relative of the people on board. The boat with 65 people was travelling from Zawiya, Libya, to Lampedusa. Weather was bad and their boat was leaking. We informed the authorities of Malta and Italy via phone and email at 20.21h CET and passed them the GPS position of the boat. We kept contact to the boat the whole night and were forwarding their changing positions to the authorities. The people on board were desperate and we urged the coastguards to carry out rescue. Italy refused to provide any information about rescue operations. Finally the next day, November 3rd, at 14.12 CET a relative of a person on board informed us the people reached Lampedusa!
