Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean
Summary of the Case
At 09:30 CEST in the morning of 17 October we received information from a relative about a group of 12 people, including three women and a baby, who had left from Tanger and were heading across the Straits of Gibraltar. We were given the phone number of the boat and we were able to get contact, but we could not understand each other. We were not able to get a position. An hour later we were told by the relative that the group had been intercepted by the Moroccan Navy and pulled back to Morocco. A few days later we were able to confirm that the group had indeed been pulled back from the Spanish Search and Rescue zone by the Marine Royale. Fortunately all of the travelers were safe and no one had been detained.
