Summary of the Case:
Just after 16:30 CEST on 7 September, we were contacted by a group of travellers in distress. It was a group of 79 men and 4 women in a wooden boat who had left from Libya. The group included 14 minors. They were able to give us a position. We immediately sent the information to the
relevant authorities, copying in the Open Arms who were in the area.

We were not able to get back into contact with the boat, but fortunately the Open Arms was able to locate them up quickly. When
they reached the scene they saw that the boat was in a bad shape and had taken on water. They asked for instructions from the Maltese
coastguard. Later they carried out a rescue.

Border police patrols
