Summary of the Case:
In the night of March 16th, the Alarm Phone was alerted to a boat carrying 200 people close to the Island Kea. It appeared the people who had called were on a coast guard vessel, or on land. Throughout the night, Alarm Phone tried to clarify the situation. However, phone connections were continually unstable and the situation remained unclear. It appeared that the people were on land with authorities. No further information could be gathered.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
