Watch The Med Alarm Phone Investigations – 24th of October 2017

Case name: 2017_10_24-WM171
Situation: 6 travellers rescued by Salvamento Maritimo and brought to Tarifa/Spain
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean Sea

Summary of the Case: On Tuesday the 24th of October 2017, at 9.30am, the Alarm Phone was informed about a boat that had left from Diamal Moussa near Casciago/Morocco and was provided with the travellers phone number. At 9.45am, we reached the travellers and talked to them briefly. They were 6 persons on their way to Tarifa/Spain and not in an immediate situation of distress. We agreed that they could call us back later on, if they want. In another call at 10.05am, we learned that they had already been rescued by the Spanish rescue organization Salvamento Maritimo (S.M.). On vesselfinder.com, we observed that the Spanish rescue vessel Salvamar Arcturus was heading back to Tarifa. At 10.52am, we called S.M. and learned that they had indeed rescued the 6 travellers.
