Summary of the Case:

In the evening of the 29th of July we got informed by a relative about 12 people in distress between Marmaris and Rhodos in Turkish waters. We sent an email to the Turkish Coastguard and tried to establish contact to the people on the boat. When we called the Turkish Coastguard right afterwards they told us they just rescued a boat close to the position we gave them. We could confirm with TCG that it is this case because the phone numbers on board matched with the rescue they confirmed.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
