Summary

In the afternoon of November 15th Alarmphone was alerted to a case of 11 men in distress who had left Morocco the previous night by a relative of a person on the boat. We tried to establish contact to the boat but remained unsuccessful. At 17.17 CET the family member informed us that they believe the boat was rescued to Almería. At 23.24 CET this was confirmed by information provided by authorities in Almería.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
