Summary of the Case: On Sunday the 7th of October at 8.50am CEST, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a contact person to a boat carrying 11 people, forwarding us their phone number and position. The travellers had left from around Tangier and were rowing towards Spain. At 9.15am we passed on the information we had to the Spanish search and rescue organization Salvamento Maritimo. We tried to stay in touch with the contact person and the travellers, but after a while the phone reception on the boat became worse, and communication therefore became more difficult. At 10.45am we saw on marinetraffic that the Spanish search and rescue vessel Salvamar Arcturus was very close to the last position we had received from the travellers, and only five minutes later the travellers called us and confirmed that they had been rescued and were on their way to Spain.
